Personal Training - Class Descriptions

Inside Out Fitness: This is a unique outdoor class. Each week we take this workout to various locations. Taking your workout outside will enhance your caloric burning capacity and add ADVENTURE to your program.

Functional Conditioning: This class is a one hour body conditioning class offered Mondays at 6pm at Sierra Bodyworks. Expect to work on reactive movements, metabolic conditioning, core and upper body strength, as well as injury prevention through stretching.

Utilizes gravity in addition to your body weight to create an effective, functional, and sound workout. More than 120 exercises on one machine!

TRX - Fitness Anywhere Training System

Uses suspension straps to create a dynamic and unique training environment. *A must try workout!

Golf

Golfers need to realize that golf is a highly athletic game and that as athletes, they should train their bodies as such. By identifying some of the basic movement requirements of the game, we can design a golf specific training program that meets the physical needs for the golfer. Programs consisting of FLEXIBILITY, STRENGTH, POWER, and NEURO-MUSCULAR retraining. This type of training translates into injury prevention, shot consistency and lower scores!

Swimming

Private and small group sessions.
Swimming stroke clinics are conducted throughout the year (see Calendar for dates & locations).
Swimming technique clinics are for Competitive Swimmers, Triathletes, or Recreational swimmers wanting to improve their strokes. We will work on drills, drills and more drills. Efficient swimming will translate into more power-speed and stamina.

Biking (Road & Off Road)

For most cyclists, weekly training can be a struggle. Finding the time to put in the desired bike mileage, lifestyle constraints, mechanical issues, early sunsets, and traffic all conspire to reduce the amount of time we can spend on the bike. "Time in the saddle" and intensity will be determined by the event that you are training for. Sierra Bodyworks can assist you in planning the necessary intensity, power and programming for your cycling/racing success.

Running

Improving you endurance, gait and technique will help you become a more efficient runner. This takes more than just "pounding the pavement," it takes a trained eye...a Running Coach. Sierra Bodywork's coaching staff will analyze your stride, body mechanics, increase speed and most importantly, work on injury prevention. Also, we can help develop a specific training schedule to meet your running/racing goals.

Triathlon Coaching

Learn how to train for a Triathlon. If you are a "newbie" and just want to finish a Triathlon or a "middle of the packer" and want to improve your time, you may want to consider a Triathlon Coach. Hiring a Triathlon Coach will help you learn the fundamentals of creating a multi-sport training program. Triathletes of all levels will benefit from a very specific, individualized training program.

Heart Zone Testing

The use of a Heart Rate Monitor gives you on-the-spot feedback and motivation. Heart Rate Training provides a link between your body and your exercise intensity-no more guessing your exercise intensity.
Heart Zone Testing is a sub-maximum test to predict your maximum heart rate (MAX HR). MAX HR is a critical piece of information, since your entire Heart Zone Training program will be designed around it. The Heart Zone Training system is individualized and easy to follow.
**If in doubt, prior to engaging in any vigorous physical activity or exercise test, consult your physician for clearance.

Postural & Movement Assessments

Initial Assessment: Each new client is given an in-depth assessment. This assessment becomes the foundation for an individualized, well thought out program.

Sports Performance: Gait analysis, Body Mechanics, Power & Speed. All elements are factored into programming and progressions specific to your sport.

Holistic Lifestyle Coaching (HLC)

This program is like no other! Using the C.H.E.K. coaching model, we will be able to look at the underlying causes of "dis-ease" and stress, as it relates to your personal health and vitality.

HLC is a program based on practical nutrition, a healthy mental outlook, and fitness. You will learn how and why every meal, exercise session, and sleepless night has an impact on every system in your body.

Using a series of in-depth questionnaires, you will learn how disease and stress are preventable through healthy eating, changes in life habits, and appropriate exercise. We do not diagnose disease. We can only help facilitate the bodies natural metabolisms and healing processes.
